doesn't seem to care too much about work ethic.
I won't say Human Nature. Because I think Nature contains the subset Human Nature.
Food must be obtained.
My dad cleaned toilets.
Sometimes I measure them, and then draw them up.
Then I get to wait a month or two for someone to bother to pay me. Sometimes, they actually do pay me. Sometimes they don't.
I feel pretty fucking privileged.
It seems as if my personal white privilege gave out sometime around 1986. That's about the time when I wasn't making good enough grades in college. Good enough to secure every single credential that I would need to someday draw toilets for a living.
I got good enough grades to draw residential toilets, but not commercial toilets, as if humans somehow exchange their asses during the day when they transition from residence to commerce.
I won't label the grading system racist. Somewhere around 1986
my interaction with formal education set a datum for me.
I hope I am doing my best to evolve despite this environmental datum.

"A coal miner still dies every six hours from black lung disease."
The Rev. Jesse Jackson pointed out the aforementioned, and it's a sad state of affairs to be sure, but no matter how hard some whites have it, they are STILL at the top of the food chain, as it were.
Pointing out instances in which whites suffer will NOT make white skin privilege magically, instantaneously disappear.

No matter how poor someone white is, Vegas odds dictate the cops will stop someone black more often. Statistics. Numbers don't lie.

In fact, for those whites dying in coal mines or scrubbing toliets, the ONLY answer is socialism: Obligating the rich to move from their mansions to the suburbs and give up their private yachts for pleasure cruises and surrender their limos for taxis so that the remainder/revenue can go towards job creation -- i.e., creating jobs that people WANT to work. The age old, right-wing fear that "no one will want to work the hard jobs unless they're forced to" is pure, uncut B.S. Believe it or not, there are kids who grow up wanting nothing more than to be a farmer or a construction worker ...
But white privilege is one of the major factors contributing to the attitude that the rich have -- the attitude that they're somehow entitled to that wealth, and so long as that's the case, it's going to be that much harder to share that wealth. So it's in the best interests of poor whites to combat white privilege.
